Katalin Kovacs is impressed with the beauty of Cariboo... the water, the rocks, the sky and the scenery of mountains and Horse Lake itself where the sunset is beautiful.

She paints everything from photos that she takes with her digital camera.

She likes the living nature so her paintings often depict birds, fox, deer, bear, rabbits and other creatures found in the area.

Katalin's watercolour paintings are done on both paper and canvas.

Later, as a kindergarten teacher, she taught children how to use pencil and paint. During that same period, Katalin illustrated poems, stories and songs that were necessary for her teaching practice, concentrating on working with pastel and watercolour. She collected the work of Hungarian artists who influenced her, but never thought to try to create such work herself.

In 1993, Katalin came to Canada and worked in a photo store with her husband, a photographer. This is when she learned about photography, developing and framing. Since 2004, she has lived in the Cariboo near Horse lake. In 2007, Katalin began volunteer work at the Art Center where she met local artists. She took art classes with Sharon Isaaks and with her help was able to refresh and further her watercolor knowledge and technique. She also took Life Drawing classes, expanding her artistic range.
